Many students ask, “What do I need to do before an attunement?” I have written out some guidelines.Keep in mind that they are just guidelines and are optional. The attunement will work whether you follow these guidelines or not but I believe following them will enhance your experience.
These recommendations will help you to de-stress and detoxify your body and spirit prior to your attunement. Stress can cause your energy to be blocked.By doing a bit of mindful relaxation in the week prior, you will be much more receptive to the Reiki energy.
Take some time each day the week before class to sit quietly for at least 20 minutes and do meditation, prayer, and/or deep breathing.
Try to get outdoors at least once a day and walk or just ‘be’ in nature. Be attentive to what is in your surroundings and any sensations you may feel.
For the week prior, try to limit excessive, mindless, violent and/or stressful TV, newspapers, and movies.
Drink plenty of water. Energy work is very drying and energy needs a well-hydrated body for efficient flow. I highly recommend 8 eight ounces glasses a day. If you choose to do only one practice in these guidelines, make it this one.
Increase your intake of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Day of Class
Wear comfortable clothes.If it is cold out, you may want to bring a sweater or wrap. I suggest that you wear socks too, especially if you like to take your shoes off for comfort.
Bring a brown bag lunch and any snacks or drinks you want for the day (I am highly allergic to shrimp and request that you not bring any to the center; I cannot be in the same area with it.Also if you have a similar allergy, such as to peanuts, please let me know so that I can alert other class members.)
We have a refrigerator to place your food in and a water cooler that dispenses hot and cold water.
My classes are run in an informal, conversational fashion. Questions are encouraged. If I don’t know an answer, I will find out for you!
Note for Level II students: Bring a picture of someone you can send Reiki to during class and who can later give you feedback.
After your attunement
As you begin to give yourself and others sessions you may find that you have additional questions. Feel free to call or email me with your questions, concerns or to discuss your experiences and I will do my best to answer them for you.
IMPORTANT especially after Reiki I Attunement – really strive to do this : Practice the self-healing techniques you learned in class at least once a day for the first 21 days after attunement.Also try to find willing people and animals who will allow you to give them Reiki during the first month as you become acclimated to experiencing this healing energy. After Level II and Master attunements committing to daily self-Reiki is encouraged as well; in fact at these levels you should be working toward making it a daily practice if you have not already done so.
IMPORTANT after any Reiki Attunement: Continue to keep your water intake high since the increased energy flow can be dehydrating.
